Most modern slot machines do not feature tilt switches. However, the original electromechanical slot machine did. When a tilt switch was tampered with, it would break the circuit, and an alarm would sound. Later, slot machines were modified so that the tilt switch could be released from a timing bar.
Another common feature of slot machines is a bonus mode. During the bonus mode, special winning scenes are displayed on the machine’s LCD screen. Players can expect to find energizing music and other features that will keep them occupied while the mode is active.
While modern slot machines have several advantages over their predecessors, there are still some disadvantages. One of the more common is that an electronic slot machine can malfunction, allowing the player to get the wrong amount of money. Although this type of malfunction is rare, it does happen. Generally, it goes unnoticed. But it can cause disputes when it is a result of a technical fault.
Besides the pay table, a slot machine also has a weight count. Typically, this is the value of all tokens removed from the machine. Sometimes it is stored on an EPROM, NVRAM, or a DVD.
